My Time at the Zoo by Jacob

Yay, I was so excited because I was going to the zoo with Room 7 and the other classes. Our parent helpers were Emmy (Alex’s mum) Amelia (Juliet’s Aunty) Diana (Shailah's sister) and Mrs Linda. I was so excited because I was going to see my favourite animals. When we got there a lady called Laura came and talked to us. The place that we went to first was the Pridelands area. The first animal that we saw were the Giraffes. The giraffes were eating, some of them were playing. The zebra and the ostrich were in the same enclosure. Ostriches are fast runners.

We saw a Rhino, it had three horns. It looked hungry and tired. We saw the bones of its rib cage.

Then we went across the bridge. The next animal that we saw were the Flamingoes.

The animal that we saw after the Flamingos were the Baboons, the pink bottom Monkeys. The Baboons were funny. The baboon’s bottoms were pinker than  cherries. After that we went to see the cheetahs.The cheetahs weren’t  running, they were sleeping on this bench up this tree. My favourite animal that we saw was the Elephant. Her name was Burma. Burma’s trunk was as useful as a nose.  We sat down under the shelter and we ate our morning tea as we watched Burma play. After that we went to see the tortoise. Their shells were big and had little holes in them that we couldn't see. Then we went to see the Hippo. It did’nt want to come up because we were so noisy

Our tour with Laura started at 12:30pm.

She took us to the Orangutans .They have hair all over them.

Laura told us about the zookeepers hiding their food in the blankets. The zookeepers would tie their food in knots using material so the Orangutans could untie the knot and get their food. Next we went to this place where there were pictures of the orangutans. On the display there were names of the orangutans. There was a hand of an orangutan on the wooden pole. I felt it. It felt rough. Laura told us what they ate and where they live. She also told us about the orangutan that had died. It was a girl. Then we went to see the Alligators. They had scales. There were two of them. We went to see the Galapagos tortoise. They were huge. Then we went to this place where there were lizards. Then Laura came with a skin of a snake. We felt it. It felt rough. Then we went to see the tigers. One of the tiger’s name was Molique. She came and sat next to us at the window. We were so excited that she sat next to us. It was so fantastic at the zoo.
